Recently, loveny21 told me I should check out Ingrid Michaelson because she thought I might like her stuff. As of late, I’ve allowed myself to be more willing to take in new artists and/or music that I may not ‘take to’ after the first listen. I owe a lot of my openness to the variety of music my girls here on sugar tend to listen to. So admittedly, when I first went to Ingrid’s myspace page to check out her music, I wasn’t really taken aback by her stuff. Loveny21 also mentioned to me that she heard her song ‘The Way I Am’ in an Old Navy commercial. I’ve caught it several times the other day and remembered thinking to myself the first time, wow, catchy sound, who sings it? It took me a second to realize that this was the song loveny21 was talking about! Lol This is a pretty new trend of featuring up and coming and/or indie artists in commercials, television shows and movies. This is something I’m growing very fond of and as the music junkie that I am, think it only as a good thing

So needless to say, I visited Ingrid’s page a second time after seeing the song on the commercial and am really growing to like her stuff the more I listen. I find it kinda ironic that I’m featuring this girlie, because she looks a lot like someone I’ve featured recently, A Fine Frenzy . Man what is it with these up and coming red heads lol. I just love that red hair! All joking aside though, Ingrid’s sound is very similar to A Fine Frenzy and also reminds me a bit of Brett Dennen and Regina Spektor. This girl is truly worth keeping an eye out for, because her stuff will probably continue to be featured in show’s like ‘Grey’s Anatomy’, where the light sounding tune goes well in those thoughtful moments. Also, I want to thank everyone who has been reading my music posts. I really appreciate the great feedback I’ve been receiving and am very thankful for the opportunity to share my love and passion for music.
